I am a transcendental and phenomenological therapist with expertise in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Hypnosis. Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Trauma Focused Therapy and just plain good old talking and listening!!

I am what is known as “seasoned”, which is a nice way of saying that I am decidedly older than most of my fellow therapists and coaches. What sets me aside is the practical “wisdom” I have accumulated from my many years on planet earth!  I even had a dinosaur for a pet!  You can even call me Gramps if it gives you a warm fuzzy!

As you can probably tell, having a sense of humor goes along with that seasoned wisdom, and is an important part my style. I apply logistical solutions and strategies toward problem solving. My approach integrates Family Systems Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Cognitive Reframing. My emphasis is on positive growth and change.

My first objective in both coaching and counseling is to provide you with an experience of feeling respected for who you are at the present moment and to give you personal time where you feel heard and seen and valued for your uniqueness as a human being  working in a safe and non-judgmental space.

The eventual goal is giving you your “wings” so you can begin flying solo and fly off into new life challenges and know that you are always welcome to come back whenever you need refueling! I won’t offer you any magical or instantaneous solutions because I am not a magician, but I am someone who is here simply FOR YOU. So come, talk it out, and take away from our time together what you need and what works for you. I look forward to the opportunity to walk “wisely” by your side as you grow!

ABOUT ME.

Animal Lover, Espresso Fanatic, World Traveler and a Decidedly Unconventional Thinker

I love to listen to different kinds of music from classical to jazz and creatively compose on the piano, otherwise called “plinking”!  I enjoy ballroom and country western dancing as well as exercising with music. Writing poetry and prose related to life common life experiences fuel my soul!  As a former administrative law judge and State Police Investigator,  “getting to the bottom of things” comes naturally.

I approach life with a natural desire for adventure and a strong appreciation for cultural considerations. Having traveled to Puerto Rico, Mexico and Panama, I am in love with the bright colors, spicy tastes, and especially the love of family and community found within the Spanish Culture.

The one universal truth regardless of who you are or what you do, is that our lives will come to an end, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t live our short lives fully in the moment until that end comes. And yes, awareness of your death is the best motivator for your life.

My loves are my lady cat Bandita a Ragdoll Siamese breed, and my partner in crime lady who loves to ask a million questions, travel and professional cook.  If I'm near an ocean~ I love to build sand castles and fish and bask in the sun.

He is very flexible when it comes to scheduling, and has more available appointment times available than what is listed on his calendar. He can be reached directly via email at paul@e-therapycafe.com.

Paul was flexible on his approach based on our needs - from meeting times to doing 1:1s and meeting as a couple with him - he literally met us where we were. He is a good listener and really understood our challenges and goals as a couple. He always recalled exactly where we left off as if we were the only couple he was working with and responded to emails in between sessions with a lot of thought. One of the most unique things about Paul is that he was able to summarize complex things down to a more simple way of looking at it and then would provide insights while reflecting it all back to us for our input on how he had framed it (which usually made a lot of sense). He gave us light homework, recommended helpful readings, to help improve our communication with each other. I highly recommend working with Paul!
